Sacred Heart’s varsity basketball team defeated Jeffersonville High School in a close game on Thursday, Dec. 7. The final score was 64-55 when the 7:30 p.m. game ended at Jeffersonville.

In the first half, the Valkyries trailed behind with over a 10 point gap of 24-35. Senior Grace Berger scored 14 of the team’s points, the most points of the game from the Valkyries’ side. Junior Ashlee Harris also made three rebounds for SHA.

“It was one of the most exciting games we’ve had because everyone was cheering and full of energy, and we won in an environment where they didn’t want us to win,” said senior Taylor Utter when asked about playing without the home-court advantage.

SHA’s next varsity basketball game will be at Mercer County High School. This game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 p.m.
