This past Friday Sept. 28, the St. Xavier Tigers faced the Trinity High School Rocks in the St. Xavier versus Trinity game at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium. The game began promptly at 8 p.m. with tailgating festivities preceding.

The final score was Trinity with 28 points, while St. X did not score. The four Trinity touchdowns were scored by junior Jacob McCarthy, senior Nick Strothman, junior Anthony Palombino, and sophomore Ryan Miller.

One of St. Xavier’s key running backs, senior Brett Metzmeier, is out because he tore his ACL earlier in the season. Both teams played extremely well on Friday.

Speaking to one of St. Xavier football managers, Andrew Reilly, when asked if St. Xavier has a chance to win, he said “I think we could but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves.”

The crowd size estimated at 24,000 people in attendance. At the halftime, the four Louisville all-girls Catholic schools, Assumption, Mercy, Presentation, and Sacred Heart all preformed dance routines for the crowd.

SHA dance team senior Janie Stockton said, “Right before we danced at the St. X Trinity Game, I was super excited to show all of our friends all the hard work we put in. I was proud to represent SHA one last time.” The Rune staff is so proud of the SHA dancers.

Although there are no more scheduled games against each other this season, St. X and Trinity may meet again in the state championship game.
