This past Thursday, Sept. 7 Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Model School, Sacred Heart Preschool, and the Sacred Heart School for the Arts joined together for the fall convocation at the SHA Amphitheater.

Each school celebrated a birthday, with Sacred Heart turning 140 this October. The community enjoyed performances from the School for the Arts dancers, as well as speeches from SHMS and SHA Student Council members.

Agape Club President Jessica Julian and Student Council President Shelby Arnett spoke as the SHA representatives.

“Convocation is a time when all of the groups on campus come together to celebrate,” said Julian. “It allows us to be mindful of that and keep the other groups in our thoughts and prayers throughout the school year.”

Julian also helped lead the English, Spanish, and American Sign Language version of “Happy Birthday” in celebration of each school.

“Everyone caught on very quickly to the new languages,” Julian said. “It was wonderful to see and to hear everyone participating in a show of unity with those who use the other languages.”

Each school presented a gift to a school for the upcoming birthdays: the preschoolers presented a gift to the Ursuline Sisters, and SHMS swapped presents with SHA.

The SHA Madrigals concluded the convocation by performing “Go Make A Difference.” As the school year continues on, it is important that each student reflects upon this year’s school wide theme of “Serve with Compassion.”

The next campus convocation occurs in the spring to complete the 2017-2018 school year.
