Seniors Kate Dutton and Sarah Buse make the decision to continue their soccer careers on National Signing Day, Feb. 1 2017.

Dutton, who previously played goalie on Sacred Heart Academy’s soccer team, committed to play at Centre College in Danville Kentucky. Centre ranks as a Division III school. Kate was always known for her positive attitude and unyielding effort on and off the field. Because of this, the Sacred Heart Soccer Heart Award was named after her. It is now called the Kate Dutton Heart Award. Kate would like to thank Sacred Heart coach Jaclyn Puntillo, her parents, and all her SHA teammates who shaped her into the athlete and person she is today.

“I am really excited to take my career to the next level, but I am really going to miss all my close-knit sisters here at Sacred Heart” Dutton said.

Congratulations on officially becoming a Centre College Colonel Kate!

Buse, a true jack of all trades, who previously played center midfield for the Valkyries, committed to the University of Alabama Birmingham in Birmingham Alabama. UAB is a Division I school. Buse has been awarded many accolades over her amazing career at SHA, including: being ranked as one of the top five players in the West, 2015 Cleat Game MVP, and team caption of the 2016 season. Buse would like to thank her fellow teammate Erin Herbert, Sacred Heart coach Jaclyn Puntillo, her Club coach Lee Weyland, and her parents and siblings.

“I am really going to miss my SHAccer team. They have taught me so much and always brought me so much joy, but I am very excited to move on to a new experience” Buse said.

Congratulations on officially becoming a UAB Blazer Sarah!
