6 Ways to Spend a Louisville Winter

Winter is coming, there’s no doubt about it. As the temperatures drop and the holidays grow near, Louisville comes alive with lights and activities. Although the winter is season is usually one that encourages people to hunker down and stay indoors, The Rune has provided a list of activities to get you out and about this season. Here they are:

1. Christmas at The Galt House , Nov. 17-Dec. 24

The Galt House provides everything you need the season, from lights to giant gingerbread houses. it was truly a winter wonderland.

2. Louisville Mega Cavern|Lights Under Louisville , Nov.18-Dec.31

Enjoy a 30 minute ride through an underground light show!

3. Fresh trees from your local Boy Scouts

If you aren’t a fan of cleaning up after christmas trees, you haven’t been to the right place. The Boy Scouts have freshly cut trees that aren’t a mess.

4. The Nutcracker, Dec. 10-22

Experience a magical performance with beautiful sets and amazing dancers at The Louisville Ballet.

5. Ice Skating

There are many places to hit the ice this season including Fourth Street Live! You can enjoy the atmosphere of downtown while skating with friends and family. If outdoor skating isn’t your thing, or if it’s too cold, try Iceland Sports Complex! Public skating fees are $7 with skate rentals being $2.

6. Sledding at Cherokee Park

Enjoy your snow day by getting out and spending it with your friends sledding! Cherokee Park has some of the best hills and is a perfect spot to spend the day off, as long as there’s enough snow.
