Other key finishers for SHA included sophomore Meredith Barnes in 24th place, senior Abby Reburn in 44th place, junior Maggie Mitchell in 60th place, and sophomore Katie Beckman in 66th place.

Valkyries finished ninth overall with a team score of 202.

SHA senior and cross country captain Abby Reburn said, “I thought the team did amazing. I’m really proud of  our improvement as a team and we are working well together.”

In the open race, the Valkyries placed third with a team score of 110.

The Valkyries race next Saturday at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, North Carolina.

Reburn said,  “I think we will be better next week than this week. This season has been about improvement week by week, and I think we will be one step closer to state readiness by next Saturday.”
